Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Comic Gen Studio ("Comic Gen," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website and AI-powered comic creation service (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information when you use the Service:

Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, password (stored hashed), and, if you sign in with a third-party identity provider such as Google, the basic profile information that provider returns to us.

Content you submit. Stories, prompts, characters, clues, reference images, settings, comments, and any other material you upload, create, or submit to the Service. We refer to this as "User Content" in our Terms of Service.

Generated output. Text, character designs, comic panels, and page images produced by the Service in response to your prompts.

Usage and technical data. Logs of your interactions with the Service, including IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, time of access, errors encountered, and metering data such as token counts, generation counts, and job results. We use these to operate, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the Service.

Communications. Information you send to us when you contact support, respond to surveys, or otherwise communicate with us.

Payment information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor (such as Stripe) collects payment-method details on our behalf. We do not store full card numbers on our own servers; we receive only the metadata needed to manage your subscription (e.g. plan tier, last four digits, billing status).

Cookies and similar technologies. We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences, plus minimal analytics to understand how the Service is used. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including authenticating you, processing your prompts through AI providers, generating Output, and storing your User Content for you.
  • Bill you for paid plans and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
  • Diagnose technical issues, monitor performance, and improve features.
  • Communicate with you about product updates, security alerts, billing, and support requests.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not use your User Content or Output to train our own machine learning models. We do not sell your personal information.

3. Sharing With AI Providers

To produce text and image Output, the Service forwards your prompts (and, where relevant, your reference images, character descriptions, and chapter text) to third-party AI model providers we have integrated, such as OpenAI and Google. Those providers process your data on our behalf to generate the Output, then return the Output to us.

The data shared is limited to what is necessary for the requested generation. The providers' own privacy and data-handling terms apply to data they receive. We choose providers whose published terms commit to not training their own models on data submitted via their API, but you should review each provider's policy if this matters to you.

4. Other Sharing

We share information with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the Service — for example, hosting providers, database providers, email delivery services, payment processors (such as Stripe), and error-monitoring tools. These vendors are bound by contract to use your information only as needed to provide their services to us.
  • Team members. If you join a team or workspace within the Service, other members of that team can see the projects, characters, clues, pages, and other content within that team. Conversations with the agent are scoped per user, not per team.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our Terms of Service, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Comic Gen Studio, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or bankruptcy, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the receiving entity honoring this Privacy Policy or providing equivalent protections.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information and User Content for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can delete a project or close your account at any time from your settings; doing so will remove the associated User Content and Output from active storage. Backups containing your information may persist for a limited additional period before being overwritten.

6. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS), hashed password storage, access controls on our infrastructure, and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:

  • Access to a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction of inaccurate information.
  • Deletion of your personal information (subject to certain exceptions).
  • Restriction or objection to certain processing.
  • Portability of your information in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdrawal of consent where we rely on consent to process your information.

Many of these rights can be exercised directly from your account settings (for example, by editing your profile or deleting projects). For other requests, contact us at the address below. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

9. International Transfers

The Service is operated from servers that may be located in countries other than the one where you live. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in those countries, which may have data protection laws different from those of your country. We rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) where required to protect your information during such transfers.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you via email or an in-app notice before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect indicates acceptance of the revised Policy.

11. Contact
